A few weeks after NFT.NYC, the largest and most respected NFT conference in the world, which has been dubbed the Super Bowl of NFTs, another meaningful event for FANZONE is happening in the Big Apple. The ABB Formula E World Championship is returning to the streets of Brooklyn for the New York E-Prix, Rounds 11 & 12 of Season 8. It’s a favourite of the drivers, teams and fans alike, and the 2.320km, 14-turn Red Hook racetrack remains unchanged from its familiar layout of the past 5 years.

This is a special one, because Nissan racing driver Maximilian Günther celebrtated a New York victory last year — and we’ll do a special drop this weekend of his NYC E-Prix IFAW card. The race is also special because New York is the homebase of our partner HAUS Music, that we teamed up with on the Maximilian Günther NFT project. Since this year Maximilian Günther is an ambassador of the International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW), a global non-profit helping animals and people thrive together. A significant share of the revenue from the NFT sales will be donated to the IFAW. On some special NFTs, created by the Belgium design artist Dominique Lobbestael, the animals and work of IFAW are depicted as Mandalas, an Indian art form. Mandala means infinity in Buddhism. The artwork is a reference to the blockchain, where the NFT stays forever in the Metaverse.

Sustainability matters

New York City has set a net-zero carbon emissions target for 2050, with an 85% reduction on greenhouse gas emissions by the same date on 1990 levels enshrined into law. In 2020 New York’s Governor Andrew Cuomo announced the ‘EV Make Ready’ programme to drive New York to its goal of 50,000 charging stations and 850,000 zero emissions vehicles in the state by 2025.
